Healthy Breakfast : Chocolate and Coconut Granola Recipe
To start off your day well, you need a boost of good nutrients and a hint of deliciousness but because breakfast is the first meal of your day (and the moment where you think you can indulge and binge-eating), it doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be healthy !
As I checked boxes of cereals in different groceries stores and all, I realize that it didn’t fit my expectations now that I am more conscious of the ingredients we are actually eating. And most of them are filled with weird stuffs I don’t even know (that goes without saying that it’s loaded on sugar - even on organic food)
So I decided to make my own homemade granola breakfast and see if my expectations of « deliciousness » matches my expectations of « healthiness ».
Let me tell you that this recipe is not only delicious as hell but also super healthy since there’s no processed food or refined sugar.
Homemade Chocolate & Coconut Granola
(Store it in a jar and you’ll be able to keep it for dayysss)
Ingredients
1 big bowl of rolled oats
1 cup of Mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, and hazelnut : the bestest combo ever !)
1/3 cup of seeds (chia seed, flax seed, pumpkin seed)
2 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa (be sure there’s no added sugar !)
1 teaspoon of cinnamon (this is known as anti-inflammatory super ingredients ;))
1 cup of shredded coconut
1 or 2 tablespoon of nut butter (peanut butter without sugar for example) or olive oil (when you add a little bit of « fat », the granola will be less crispy and more flavorful)
3 tablespoon of Honey
2 tablespoon of water
The quantities are not exact, depending what you like the most, you can adjust the ingredients and put whatever you like (dried fruits, other kind of powder like matcha for example !)
Preheat the oven to 160°C. Put a parchment paper on your baking plate
Mix all together the « dry » ingredients first : rolled oats, mixed nuts, mixed seeds, powder, shredded coconut and the cinnamon.
Mix all together the « dry » ingredients first : rolled oats, mixed nuts, mixed seeds, powder, shredded coconut and the cinnamon.
Then add the wet ingredients : nut butter, honey and water. Stir well.
Bake for about 20 minutes and then stop the oven and let dry and sift inside the oven so your granola will be just crispy and soft inside.
What I love the most with this granola recipe is that I can either eat it with almond milk or with a soy yogurt and add some nice fruits on top. On picture I added papaya (good for beautiful skin ;)), banana (energy boosting !) and blueberries (loaded on vitamins plus, all berries are low in calories !)
This is a great way to eat healthy but without giving up your favorite foods
Enjoy !!
Enjoy !!
